Default dry yeast pocket

Alright, so I completed my first all grain batch yesterday. I pitched my yeast (US 05) at ~70 degrees F at 3pm. I came home at around 10pm and saw that there was a dry pocket of yeast on top...so I rocked the carboy back and forth and shook up the dry yeast. Since then I haven't seen the dry yeast and the air lock is bubbling about every few seconds. I don't know if there is anything else I should do or not?

Is there anything I should do?

Also, is there anything I should do the next time to avoid this issue?

Thanks - Adam

My son "helped me out" one day and pitched a packet of Nottingham into the fermenter. I thought he cast it over the top of the aerated wort before he put the lid on. Later he told me the whole packet fell out in one lump and sunk under the foam.

It took 24 hours to start and some horrific big chunks were flying around for a day or so. It turned out fine..LOL I'm having one as I type.
