Default Refractometer problems, maybe...

I broke down and bought a refractometer off eBay. Probably not a good idea since I wasn't exactly sure what I should be buying. I ended up getting one that only has a percent alcohol scale... Can this be of any use to me? I'm aware that normal refractometers usually have a degrees Brix scale, which then gets converted via some simple mathematical formulas. Mine lacks even that. Did I waste the cash on this refractometer that serves no purpose to me?

The only scale is a 0-25% alcohol with 0.2% delineations.

Anyone? Will this thing be useful for a beer brewer?

It won't work. You need a brix scale to use it for raw wort.

That's a bummer. Maybe he'll take an exchange. I'm looking for something with a 0-32% Brix scale, right? I don't want to mess this up again. Is this what I'm looking for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330161453159 ?

That'll work, and it is ATC too--which you want. Otherwise you have to mess with correction tables.
