I have never made a blonde or light ale. Any thoughts on this recipe would be appreciated. As you can see it is mostly about the hops. I want to try the Chinook & Cascade for piney-citrusy flavors.

Not sure about the grain bill, the 40L is mostly for a little color. Should I go with a full pound of the Vienna? I don't want sweetness, but do want balance. Thanks.

Style: American Light Mild
Type: All grain
Size: 5.5 gallons
Color: 5 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness:33 IBU
OG: 1.039
Alcohol: 4.1% v/v (3.2% w/w)
Water: 6g gypsum
Grain: 7 lb. American 2-row
10 oz. American Vienna
4 oz. American crystal 40L
Mash: 75% efficiency
Mash 45 minutes at 153
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.031 7 gallons
1t Irish Moss @ 5min

Hops: .5 oz. Cascade (5% AA, 60 min.)
.2 oz. Chinook (11% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (5% AA, 15 min.)
.2 oz. Chinook (11% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (Dry)
.2 oz. Chinook (Dry)
Yeast: Notty
Carbonation: 100g Corn Sugar

Do you always add gypsum, or was that just part of somebody else's recipe?
I would brew it exactly as written with the exception of the gypsum.
Keg #1: Brown Bomber Bourbon/Oak Vanilla Porter
Keg #2: The Bollocks ESB
Keg #3 Lawnmower APA
Fermenter: Empty
Bottled: Mjolnir Mead, Lazy Daze Hefe.

Thanks, I add the gypsum to some recipes because my water is very soft. I do not have an analysis of my specific water, but the county posts one of my area. So it may be a bit off but is better than nothing. I added it to this because there is not much chrystal or other dark malt, so I am concerned about the pH of the mash being too high. I might consider cutting the amount. 6g is about a teaspoon.
