Default Granite tower help please

Sending out my template to granite shop.I need to know what size hole to drill for tower?Im going to slide a pvc tube through fridge hole, through granite into tower to fill the void between fridge and granite.Im thinking the bigger the better to let more air flow up tower? Is there a standard setback from counter edge to tower,or just whatever feels comfortable?

Most commercially available tower columns use 3 or 4" diameter tubing. As long as yours has a mounting flange you can make s hole of matching diameter.

[Edit] Set-back is pretty much user preference...
