After well over a decade of being the guy (and then 1/2 of the couple) that people came to for relationship advice I am going to officially hang up my spurs. In 10 years I have had exactly one person (1) take my well-worded and experience-backed advice. Every other time people do the exact opposite and then resent me (or us) for it.

So now, if a friend asks what they should do now that they have "broke it off" for the 14th time with the guy who threatens to hit her and looks as if he himself has been hit in the face with a brick I am going to respond "How the hell should I know? What do I look like, Dr. Frigging Phil? Oh and finish your tea, I have to wake up in 12 hours which means I need 4 hours of Skyrim and pornography. Chop chop."

So thats my advice. When it comes to other people's relationships, don't give advice. Oh, and the more intelligent your friend, the dumber the crap they are going to wind up doing "for love."

Take it or leave it, just don't tell me what you chose. Oh, and get the hell out of my house, I have a Highlander marathon to watch.

Ain't that the truth. Social dysfunctions and smart people go together like... oh look, a bird! What was I saying again?

Not relationship oriented, but, I have a friend that ask me for advice sometimes. He never takes it, and then wants to call and whine about how things went south. Gets old, and makes you wonder why they even bother asking.

Been there. I think it's in people's nature to disregard advice whether good or bad. People want to feel like they know better so they ask for advice and do the opposite thinking they know better. What gets me is the blaming of the person who gave the advice, even though they didn't ****ing follow the advice. How can you blame me if you didn't do what i suggested?

Horrible advice. My wife is my best friend and my life would be nowhere near as fulfilling without her.
