so is it reasonable to assume that all these places that are out of stock on these hops will be getting more in the next few months?

Not really- harvest is once a year. Homebrew shops will have these hops, they'll just be expensive, and available only ouncewise.

No, it is not reasonable to assume that. All the desirable bulk hops will be sold in a matter of weeks, or what's left of them. The rest will be doled out at 2.50-3.99 an ounce from HBS's that got their supply. They will all probably be available for most of the year, just at ridiculously high prices. I've seen NB carry hops for as much as $5.50 an ounce.

So, we need to increase the supply of the high cost hops. How can we get the rhizomes to grow more hops?

People shouldn't buy them at all.

Well maybe that's over the top to say, but when I read this I think about the dystopian dilemma of the day when all of our food stuffs are proprietary. That's a frightening possibility

You mean as if that is some day in the future which has not already occurred?

I mean the day when heirloom plants no longer exist and we're all eating gmos and farmers are forced to purchase seeds for each growing season.

What part of this isn't how the world is now?

Speaking of the great hop grab, where can I get my hands on some Citra and sorachi Ace? Hahaha, seriously though…
