I have a 5 gallon batch ready to bottle and it tastes great but I'd like to have it just a little sweeter. Should/can I use Lactose and any ideas how much to use? Can I stir it into my bottling bucket??

They say Lactose does not ferment and will stay sweet and not cause bombs??

Or do i run the risk of ruining my beer this way?

You can definitely add lactose at bottling time. You can dissolve it in boiled water and add to taste. Sweet stouts often have up to a pound of it. What I would do is dissolve 1 pound in a few cups of water, then add to taste.

Lactose is usually added at the end of the boil,since it's a max of 5% fermentable. but a little at bottling time could be accounted for.
On the other hand,if it tastes great,why mess with it?...

Keep in mind that this will also affect the mouthfeel of your beer.

Thanks, This is a 4 % lighter beer and wont need to be too sweet. Dissolving it in water seems a good idea.

Just use about a cup of boiled & cooled water.
