Default Adding apple juice to fermenter

I am making a beer with apple juice but I can't get a straight answer on whether or not the juice needs to be boiled before I add it to the fermenter. If its pasteurized it's ok right?

Should I put it in secondary before adding the juice?

It should be totally infection free, if it were infected in the bottle it'd balloon up. You can add it directly to the fermenter, just sanitize the cap, lid, and funnel if you use one, as always.

If its pasteurized, just dump it in. Just make sure the label doesn't say "potassium sorbate" or "BHT" anywhere.

I make cider with apple juice all the time. Fine and dandy. Like others have said, "pasteurized"

Awesome thanks guys. Glad I finally have a clear cut answer.

What is the BHT thing your talking about? I bought an organic pasteurized apple juice so i think I'm probably good

It's just a preservative. If its in there, it'll say so on the label.

Any advice on adding nuts to a beer? In the boil or secondary? Should I roast them first?

I'm thinking pecans here
