Hello all,

I'm a fairly new brewer with about 10 batches under my belt. My first 3 were extract, then I made the jump to AG. So far I haven't had much luck finding a clone recipe for this brew, and this is the first time I've attempted making a recipe from scratch, so I'm asking for a little help.

Here are some of the assumptions that I'm making based on some specifications that I have found for Sneaky Pete:

Malts: Honey malt, rye malt, and Munich
Hops: Simcoe (at around 30%), Glacier, Centennial, Vanguard, Hallertau
IBU: 89
ABV: 10%

Now, I have heard some talk that Sneaky Pete is really a Hopslam clone. While I haven't tried Hopslam, I think some of the clone recipes that I have seen are somewhat agreeable with the specifications above. That being said, I have come up with the following recipe while taking cues from various Hopslam recipes as well as the assumptions listed above:

Does it at least look like a reasonable recipe?

I have had sneaky peat before but can't remember it. I do know all those laughing dog beers were kinda unimpressive.

Your recipe looks good. I have never used honey malt before I always just used honey to get more fermentables with some honey taste. I would give it a go and see what happens.

You might want to get some WLP001 and build a huge starter or pitch a couple packs of US-05 for that big of a beer!

Looking back on my notes, Sneaky Pete was a bit darker than most IIPAs, and had a decent caramel character. Didn't note any of the cloying honey malt character. Maybe sub out the honey malt with some C-60?

IMO, Sneaky Pete doesnt even come close to Hopslam. They seem like very different IPAs. Hopslam is an overload of American west-coast hops.
