Finally got around to putting together a chest freezer to ferment in. Got my first beer going on Friday and stuck my head in there today to get a look at the thermometer on the bucket to see what it read. I got what I think was a really big whiff of took my breath away. Is this something that needs to be vented or is it getting out of the freezer slowly, or does it even mater if it gets out?

Cheap buzz, lol. I've done that as well. Your not creating enough CO2 to damage anything if its indoors and it will dissipate once in atmosphere. I usually open mine and fan it a little before diving in, or you could get a helmet.

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt
Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

Its not a problem as long as you don't stick your head in and take a big whiff.

Been there done that,
Just don't take to big a whiff or you may pass out..

Not at all anything to be concerned abought,
All that CO2 is actually protecting your beer from infection, So that's a good thing.
