Default simple kettle control?

I have been looking to go all electric but I have basically no electrical knowledge aside from GFCI is not optional and everything MUST be grounded. I have been looking at the kettle control from high gravity brewing but it seems pretty pricey. Can anyone help me with plans to build something similar?
