i already have this only its not insulated yet and ive been using it as a fermenter.

i would like to incorporate this into my e brew build as the mash tun.

what are some insulation scenarios that have been proven to hold temps as well as a gott jug without heat additions?

i could just plumb a 120v element in it but i worry about scorching.

(materials and applications)

I use an insulated keggle for my mash tun. I used a fiberglass insulation that is used for insulating ductwork. It has a strong reinforced foil covering on one side. I cut it to fit with foil side out and covered the seems with metal tape. I just covered the sides of the keggle only. I spray the inside with hot water right before mashing in to preheat. Dump it before mashing in. I use a false bottom. It doesn't lose any degrees of heat during the mash. It works great. Hope this helps.
