What state are you in? Gun laws vary wildly by state, and in some states having an uncased firearm in your backseat is a no-no (and a felony in some cases). Make sure you're doing it correctly. If you're in Michigan, let me know...I know all the laws and then some (I'm a federally licensed dealer).

Now...I think I need to start brewing a bock or something...

I picked up a decent shape Miroku 500 side-by-side 12ga this week from a co-worker for $200. From what I'm finding online and hearing from my cousin, I stole it. Anyone know about this brand?

What sate are you from? I might be able to get you a list of laws regauding transport.

Be careful with apraisals, most gun shops will lowball you.

Depends. They may give you a fair appraisal, but that's not what they're going to offer you if it you want to sell it to them. Pawn Stars 101.

Unless it was used as a jack handle you got yourself a killer deal. There are different price ranges for Miroku's but taking an average of best to least expensive you have a nice shotgun for a steal of a price.

Do check out values and such before packing them off to a dealer.

This may help with transport (within the State of Florida);

(5) Possession in Private Conveyance.--Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the carrying of a concealed firearm or other weapon on the person. This subsection shall be liberally construed in favor of the lawful use, ownership, and possession of firearms and other weapons, including lawful self-defense as provided in s. 776.012.

Florida is a decent State when it comes to firearms laws.

I am not a lwayer but the above is part of Florida law to the best of my knowledge.

I do believe in florida as it was posted above you can transport guns just simply by putting them in the trunk unloaded with the action open.
Bosco quoted the exact law but legal jargon makes my head hurt

Isn't it funny how the liberal, open minded, free thinking, intellectual master minds are so narrow minded when it comes to firearms? Anyone in one of the communist leaning socialist areas may want to look into black powder firearms. They are effective and great fun to use. Any of you who have never used them regardless of where you live should also look into them. There is a lot to be said for firing a side lock and even more for a cap and ball revolver. Great history and great fun.

I guess a car trunk or tool box on a truck would count as "securely encased"?

Thanks, yeah, made me dizzy reading it. I'm not ready to run out and take them anywhere today, but good to know. Will keep researching, thanks guys.
