Default Plastic Fermenter Bucket

I am brewing some pumpkin beer and want to put about 6.5 gallons in the primary to account for losses due to the pumpkin goo settling out. After that it will be my dedicated apfelwein fermenter, anyway, I see them advertised as 6.7 gallon and 7.9 gallon. Is that measured to the very top? I have a bottling bucket that is marked on the side, marked up to 5 gallons then has 5-6'' more bucket. Is that 6.7gallon? Do you think I could get 6.5 (or maybe 6.25) gallons in there without a problem?
