For my second batch, I'm thinking of moving my fermenter down to the crawlspace to do its thing. I've left one of those indoor/outdoor thermometers by the entrance with the probe hanging down for a few days, and it seems to stay at about 16 C down there. Is that too cold for ale yeast, and is it too warm for lager?

That will be a good temp for an ale yeast. For lagers you need to be in the 8 to 10 c range.
On tap: World wide lager, Dopelbock, Apfelwein, American Wheat, DFH 90, Dortmunder export, Skeeterpee, Chinook/Citra ipa.
Waiting on a tap. Maibock, Two Hearted, Pliny the elder, Chimay White, Roggenbrier, DFH60
On Deck:
Hiding in dark corner: Lambic, Flanders red, Oud Bruin, DFH 120(in bottles)
