fwiw, Bota Box Old Vine Zinfandel is actually very, very good...box or no box.

And I've never had anything good with an Almaden label on it...

Big difference compared to the '80s. Back then, boxed wine was one baby-step above Mad Dog and Night Train.

I'm pretty much at the same level as Nordeast, don't drink wine too often but have had some that I like better than others. Recently the MRS, who likes wine much more than I, brought home a couple of boxes from whole paycheck. One was a red wine, Vina Borgia Garnacha and a white wine, Bota Box Chardonnay. Both tasted pretty good to me but I am far from a wine critic. I like the convenience of these boxes though, I must admit.
