Not sure if its the chloramine or chlorine that it removes but how long does the water need to sit before using it. I usually let it sit over night at an average of 18 hours or so. Is this long enough? Cheers!

Hm I would have to research I guess but I didn't know campden tablets helped remove neither chlorine nor chloramines. I think those will just evaporate out themselves if you leave it out long enough. Campden is for sulfiting the must isn't it? editing ... ok hm I didn't know about that use, it does say it eliminates chloramine and free chlorine.

One source I saw said it removes the chlorine within minutes, so if that's true it seems like your 18 hours should be plenty of time.

Yea overnight is plenty. I've seen sources that only recommend five minutes.

What do you put the water in to store this overnight? An extra sanitized bucket or what?

Chlorine will evaporate out in 24 hours or so.

Chloramine will not, hence you must use another method to get rid of it. (RO, campden, etc.)

Crush the tablet, put it in your bucket, and it'll be gone by the time your water is at mash/steep temperatures.

You have to grow old, you don't have to grow up.

Hmm I do about 2 1/2 gallon boils so I would need an extra 3 or so gallons of water outside of whats in the pot. Would a sanitized lowes bucket work?
