12 # marris Otter
1 # c 20
.5 c 60
.5 # wheat
.2 # chocolate malt

Mashed in with 4 gallons at 166F settled at 156F, 1 hour rest finished at 149F
first running's were 1.5 gallons.

for me this is a low amount for the first running's. I am batch sparging with 4.5 gallons for a 6 gallon boil for 60 min. Can anyone shed any light onto this problem, if it is one.

I don't know what your deadspace in the MLT is, but it looks to me like you were about 1.5+ gallons shy on the lauter. Are you sure you measured the water right? Did you check for a stuck sparge?
