Default Weizenbock starter

I made a 1 quart starter for a weizenbock the other day using wyeast 3056. I didn't have any wheat dme so I just used regular extra light dme. It took about 10 hours to get going and never really got a whole lot of krausen. However it is now bubbling happily away.
Should I have used wheat dme? is the slow start and small krausen a warning sign of a poor starter?
I used:
1 cup extra light dme
1 quart boiled then cooled water
1 packet wyeast 3056 pitched into starter 3 hours after smacking the internal pack

Don't worry about. I've had many a starter that had an unimpressive fermentation. The only important thing is that the yeast multiply. Unless you have reason to believe that you pitched at too high a temperature or if your yeast pack was old, you're making a fuss over nothing.

One thing I would worry about, however, is the size of your yeast starter. Assuming you're brewing 5 gallons of 1.065 OG beer, the only way 1 qt of starter is enough is if you have a stirplate. Otherwise, you'll want a starter almost twice that size.
