I have made a half dozen batches of beer so far, and there is one constant issue. Any IPA that I make has a TON of head when it's poured into a glass. Other beers I have made do not seem to have this problem. I prime with the same amount of sugar (table). Any ideas what is going on? In addition, I let them ferment for 5-6 weeks too....Thanks!

Is there a certain grain you use in your IPA's and not in your other brews? Some grains/adjuncts promote head retention.

Increasing the Alpha Acids, from hops, is one way of increasing head in beer. IPA = more hops than average beer = more head in your beer, and better head retention. It shouldn't make your beer have an above average head, though.

For what it's worth, I keg my beer. I have 3 on tap... blonde ale, heffeweizen, and an IPA... the IPA has a head 2-3x as thick as the others... it's just a characteristic if a highly-hopped beer!
