Default A perfect Northwoods meal!

Tonight, we had beer battered bluegill (homebrew in the batter), wild rice that we harvested last fall, pickled beets from our garden, stir fried veggies (yellow squash and brocoli from our garden) and my first sample of the valpolicella kit. Followed by raspberries I picked today on our 80 in Wisconsin.

All I can say is "wow". The meal was terriffic, but better was the satisfaction of becoming able to produce and prepare our own food. I think that alone made it taste so good!

Wow, that is totally killer.

I miss the old Friday Fish Fries.

No, sorry! pickled pike is always in the fridge, but we usually have it as an appetizer! (I've never heard of pickled muskie!)

Beer Batter Blue Gill Rock! Down here, we grow em big though. A little beer with Aunt Jemima's Buttermilk Pancake mix with salt & pepper. Wow!

We get filets as big as your hand down here.

When I was a kid we always tossed the blue gill. Thought they were worthless.
