Cutting fluid + Slow speed.

High speed is no bueno.

I used olive oil, extra virgin, which has a smoke point of around 380F.

So when the bit starts a-smokin, the drillin needs a-slowin...

Tried this. Didn't compare to cutting oil, personally

Cutting oil or any oil or water is important but nothing is more critical than a low speed high torque drill motor.

I agree. I only used the olive oil because I did not have cutting oil on hand.
