Default How many Carboys do you own?

I'm on my 7th batch of beer and I need to transfer this gigantic 12% barleywine to secondary. Problem is, my three carboys are in use so I need to buy another.

It has me thinking, I haven't even started brewing with Brett or other wild bacteria yet (which can occupy a carboy for a year or more) so, I'm curious how many carboys do you guys have and for someone with a 4-kegerator system and brewing wild-beers, how many should I get?

Also, what's the best price + shipping you've seen them for? My LHBS sells them for $50 for 5 gallons and I think that's pretty high.

I've got three buckets and four five gallon carboys. I bought one carboy from the LHBS used for $20, and got the other three from some dude on craigslist for $50. It has allowed me to get a pipeline going and bulk age at the same time.

I have 7. Three are 5G for secondaries, lagering, or bugs. Then I have 4 bigger ones for primaries. I have 4 taps, I keep the pipeline consistently flowing. Lately I have not kept more than 4 full, but I've not been doing lagers or bugs so my beers have been ready much quicker.

If you keep an eye on Amazon, every now and then, you can find glass carboys (23L/~6gal), on sale for $30 with free shipping. This seems to be rare, but I've seen it a couple times, and been lucky enough to get a couple at this price. It all depends on how long you can wait, and whether or not you want glass. I currently have 4 of these glass carboys and 7 or 8 buckets in my arsenal.

2 six gallon Better Bottles, 1 five gallon Better Bottle, 1 Ale Pail, 2, 3 gallon water bottles. And I have a few five gallon buckets that I could use. I have had 3 going at one time. I haven't done anything really big yet.

NO GLASS FOR ME! Too heavy and too dangerous!
