If you have heard this before and know the answer

Please let others try before you reply.

You are given 9 golf balls.

One ball is lighter than the rest but they all look the same.

Their weight can't be determend by a human feel test.

There is only one way and one answer that is the best.

You are given a scale, a balancing type scale, not the kind we use making ale.

You may use the scale twice to find out which ball is the light one.

If this were easy you could use it thrice.

Proceed...

Put 4 on each side. If they weigh the same, the odd ball is light. Of the lighter pile, weigh two each. One side will be lighter. Take a ball off of each side. If they balance the one that you took off of the light side is the one, if not it's the other. That's all I could do with it ;)

You're pretty close. But it takes two timea not three.

Also no guessing involved that would be cheesey.

My son and his wife trying to figure this out.

Except he outhought me

Because I gave him bad information

I said it could be either heavy or light in my expectation.

But he was right you have to know

Is the odd ball heavy as lead or light as snow?

Tis a factor that will turn on the light.

So the oddball is light and all is right

With this question

I'll give you only suggestions.

divide the balls into groups of three. Measure 2 groups. This isolates which group of three it is in. Then measure two of the three balls in that group. That will give u the odd ball. I think thats right, but i've been sampling :drunk:

You win the interwebz!!!! I think. :drunk:

AZ_IPA I know you're ready for another

What do you say to that my brother?

My pride in figuring it out is tempered by the fear that Im developing a tolerance.

Well to help you get over your fear. Here is another one ya can fret with over a beer.

A while back me and two friends went down to New Orleans. Marti gras time!

We checked into a hotel there were three of us. The attendant said it would be 30 bucks.

A pretty good price to lay our heads down. In beteen partying in the town we had found.

When I got to the room it was a mess. I said thirty dollars for all this stress?

I called the front desk and complained about it. The man said he was sorry
and would give back a bit.

He said we would be given money back and quickly gave the bellman 5 dollars to return.

The room bill was thirty we each paid ten
And the bellman had five to give us a stipend
But how do you split 5 bucks, amongst three angry bucks?

So the bellman gave us each a dollar
and kept two, which is a bit smaller.

So 30 dollars out we paid
Got a dollar back, each to his own name.
The bellman kept two and that's ok cool

But doing the math
we spent 9 dollars each which is 27.
the bellman kept 2 for his little heaven.

$27 +$2 makes $29
Doesnt make sense, put my mind in overdrive.

So where did the rest of those 100 pennies go?
Answer this quickly, you're a pretty good bro.

The manager didn't give you back five from your thirty. Just a five beyond that. Had he taken the five out of you bill, you would be left with $25, plus $3 given back and $2 to the bellman. $25 + $2 +$3 = $30.

Very well done Urbanmyth!

Why thank you, sir. Incidentally, I just began a new job as a bellman at a resort in my area this weekend.

Okay, here is the last one for the night... I think.

What has no beginning, middle or end?

The Dog 42 takes the prize this time!

UrbanMyth - Your's was a close answer

Just not the correct one

And also, my dog is named Prancer...

Anybody up for a lunch time puzzle?

It will help your food go down,

Theres no need to guzzle.

Here is the next one,

It's simple and fun.

What gets wetter and wetter the more it dries?

Swish! Very well played JonGrato!

I got some more

Who needs a score?

What goes up and down the stairs without moving?

BTW, my answer to this one made sense but was wrong. But if it's the one you give I'll play you a song.

Well, technically I've got carpet that goes up and down the stairs, and it pretty much stays in one place.

The_Bird wins!

A handrail?

HawksBrewer - that was my answer too! I think it is easily understood why that would be the correct answer as well..

Keeping my word, I'll play you a song.

It has to be the right answer! Especially if I have hardwood throughout (aka no carpet on stairs).

Good point, but what if you have carpeting and no hand rail? Catch 22 :D

Here's the next one. I guessed it correctly myself by chance but my answer didn't make sense until I heard the explanation.

Oh, I forgot to put this to a rhyme
Which recently takes up a lot of my time

So this is about as well as I can do
Hoping it keeps everone happy too.

You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What did you eat?

Oh by the way

I just have to say

I'm not posting riddles

That have not turned my head in some strange way

But the ones I post, I've all figured out

You can find the answers on interwebz

Without doubt.

But I will not post one that I didn't answer

Most riddles here, are my way to avoid brain cancer.

Not really, and I shouldn't joke about that

Just having fun and petting my cat.

Dan, do you write poems for a living, by chance?

PS - how about corn.

TyTanium, I didn't see your post before my last answer

But your answer is correct, quite a chancer.

No I don't write poems for a living

If I did I think my mind would stop giving.

I do this just for a little fun

Recently too... but I have to say

I believe I'm going crazy in some weird way.

Next Up!

I have holes in my top and bottom, my left and right, and in the middle. But I still hold water. What am I?
