Slightly carbonated refreshing with a nice caramel flavor and a good balance of hops.
I got the idea to make a beer like this after having a beer that was very similar from Germany. It was not a typical IPA as it still had the malty characteristics of a good German Weizen, however it was almost perfectly balanced out by the cascade hops, without being to much of an IPA. The best way to describe it would be walking a tightrope between the two styles.
The name of this beer translates to: Good Wheat IPA, I just liked giving it the German touch
- 1 lbs Caramel Wheat Malt
- 1 lbs Caramunich Malt
- 5.5 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) Belgian
- 6 lbs Vienna Malt
Mash 9 Gallons @ 153 F, for 60 min
Then bring to 168 F for 10 min
For non BIAB:
Mash 6.5 Gallons @ 153 F, for 60 min
Sparge 2.5 Gallons @ 168 F, for 10 min
Boil for 90 min.
Hops & Schedule:
- 0.5 oz Magnum @ 60 min
- 0.5 oz Magnum @ 30 min
- 0.5 oz Cascade @ 30 min
- 1 oz Cascade @ 5 min
- 1 oz Cascade - Dry Hopped 5 days
Ferment for 14 days in the primary, 14 days in the secondary, and dry hop on day 9 of the secondary.
