90 min vs 60 min boil time????

I am looking into making something similar to deschutes mirror pond pale ale. On the deschutes website they say that its a 90 min boil time. I am very new to homebrewing (this will be my third batch). Why do they say 90 min vs the 60 min i used to seeing? Does it make a difference? Any answers as to why they say this?
 
90 minute boils are used to:

A) Boil off DMS when using pilsner malt

B) Boil off more water to give yourself a higher starting gravity.

If neither of these issues are a concern for you, boil for 60 minutes.

Also, double posting is not necessary.
 
im going to be doing just extract, and thanks for the quick reply. Good know i dont need to double post. thanks again.
