Thinking of making a new red. Carribe-Style.... Planning this to be moderately low hopped for the style. 1.052 with 24 IBU and SRM of 12. Using Williamete to try to make this more of an english influenced red

Here is what I am thinking. Brew pretty much as normal then....

I will use a secondary to add wood chips soaked in rum, (rum that was soaked with coconut) and adding 33 oz of coconut water to boost ABV. I want the coconut to be rather faint but blend well with roasted barley.

This is the basic recipe. Thoughts???

Was toying with idea of using a stout recipe for this.

No interest peaked? Not even one "yuck, thats gross!"

Well, took the coconut out of the rum, now soaking wood chips in rum.

Might call it redrum ale. Red ale with some roast malt, toasted pale malt and rum soaked wood chips with a tinge of coconut.

Most you mofo's would call me fricken crazy, I'm wanting a Caribbean Banks Beer with an island flair.

Frankly, it sounds like Kona Brewing Co Koko Brown. Which is pretty damned tasty. Damn, now I'm missing my old home in Waialua... /looks at the damp New England spring

I think it sounds good. I'm interested to see how it actually turns out.
