Anyone have any experience with this scale from harbor freight for measuring out larger quantities of grain (as in more than just a couple pounds)?

No but you can get the same basic thing on Amazon for HALF that price... I have the 50lb blue postal scale from Amazon and it was $19.50. Works great. Comes with batteries and an AC adapter.

i have a coupon that'll bring the price down to 30 bucks. after shipping from amazon, i'd probably be near that anyway. couple extra bucks for not having to deal with shipping and waiting is worth it to me.

That is the 50lb one. They also have a 75lb one. To get free shipping you have to buy $25.00 minimum (unless you have a Prime membership like I do - which is unlimited free 2 day shipping). So get some pellet hops or a new flask also and you are at $25.00.

That weighmax model seems like a better choice than the Ultraship 55 I was considering at $30 plus another $8 for an adapter.

I know this is a fairly old topic but what do you use as a container to contain the grain you are weighing?

I use a 5# Homer bucket. Mine is actually the Ultraship 35 which has a detachable faceplate...which makes it way easier to read when using a bucket.

I found this scale:

http://www.amazon.com/Accuteck-A-ST6...ef=pd_sbs_op_8

on Amazon that I'll probably be buying. It has Tare, 65lb max, .2oz resolution, for $23.00. My only concern (as with any measuring device) would be it's precision and accuracy. Should definitely be fine for grain, not sure about hops, but we'll see.
