MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A fight is brewing in the Legislature over a proposal that seeks to make clear that home brewers don't necessarily have to brew and serve their beer at home.

...

State law doesn't allow homebrewed beer and wine to be taken outside of the home, which makes homemade brewing tasting events illegal.
Rest of the story, short as it is at http://lacrossetribune.com/news/loca...871e3ce6c.html

Oregon recently rewrote our laws to allow us to take homebrew out of the house for personal consumption and competitions

Never entered my mind that this would be illegal anywhere in the free world.

Yeah, in Utah I think we're limited to transporting 72 ounces per person over 21. Moronic, but it is Utah and we have a whole bunch of other ridiculous liquor laws as well.

Only reason for these dumb laws is the popularity of homebrewing in your state. You are interfering with state revenues from commercial beer sales.

Don't these dumbarses realize that they owe their very existence to beer? If it weren't for beer (and other fermented beverages), humans would have never made it out of the middle ages!

Not sure about the laws in Wisconsin, but from what I understand a lot of these laws still exist from prohibition days and have been forgotten by even many liquor control boards.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. We have some mundane alcohol laws.
