I have a very nice-smelling batch of JAOM that has been in primary since November. Yesterday I gave it a look, and the oranges on top had blackened, and up near the neck is an almost clay-like brown goo (I think it is orangified yeast schmutz, but not sure). Will get pictures tonight.

Think its most likely ok?

Rack from underneath the "orangified yeast schmutz" into another fermenter and let it keep aging.

Easy fix. Not that it's broken...

Idk, same thing happened with my JAOM... so I don't think it's mold or something lol.

Thanks, I just needed to be talked down from the ledge... lol.

I racked and it looks great. This mead is for my wedding, so I wanted it as close to perfect as possible. My beloved friends and family don't know from mead, however, so I just need a good looking drinkable product that will impair vision and/or judgement...
