Hi,

Has anyone had luck contacting Barley Crusher? We purchased one last March and after 1400 lbs of grain through it, it doesn't work. We've cleaned and adjusted it but can't get it to mill grain at .039

I've sent two e-mails and no response. No phone number for them.

Thanks,

hopfen

Typically the barley crushers have an O-ring that helps the non driven roller turn. I'd check to see if the o-ring is still there or if its worn out.
Hope this helps....

What do you mean when you say it doesn't work? It doesn't turn? it doesn't crush?, It doesn't crush correctly? It doesn't stay at 0.039"?

Details, man, details!..is this what you are going to the BC folks with?

That oring fell off the first time I used mine. It has been working fine for almost a year.

Have you ever cleaned it? Take it apart and clean the shafts, then put some lube - dry bike lube works well and put it back together making sure it is gapped correctly using a feeler gauge from the auto parts store. 1400 lbs is a hefty workload and you should be blowing out the dust after each use or conditioning the grain with h20.

.039 is the gap.

Taken apart, cleaned and lubed with a very light oil.

At a wider gap it will pass grain but we don't get the crush that we want.

I'll check the o-ring.

My beef is with the piss poor customer service. This is the new world we live in - Automated phone sytems, support via e-mail only, who is on the other end????

How can you run a business and not provide a phone number?

I've e-mailed with questions and get no response.

I can provide all of the technical data required to troubleshoot the issue we are having.

Due to the lack of support, we had to purchase another mill.

If we can get it working again, it's for sale...

Barley Crusher comes with a lifetime warranty. You ought to be able to get it working, or get a replacement at no cost.
