Default Yeast Activation

Alright its brew day, I'm in the middle of my boil, and I have a question about adding the yeast.

Should I activate it using water beforehand, or just sprinkle it into the wort? The directions given to me in the kit say to sprinkle, but the package of yeast has a (very vague) picture indicating that it needs to be activated before being added to the wort.

I'll take any help I can get here, and maybe some instructions on a good way to activate it if that's what I need to do. It's Lallemand Ale Yeast if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

I don't use dry yeast, but I've seen it done both ways, which leads me to believe it doesn't matter. Use pre boiled water if you rehydrate.

Medic, I don't think there is a huge difference but if you want to see the results one homebrewer did to test the theory go to you tube, look up
"Dry Yeast Experiment" by Bobby_M

I think you'll have a much better idea

I find that my yeast gets going faster if I re-hydrate it. Like in 6 hours or so vs 10 or 12 hours.
