Hey all. Semi new brewer wanting to clone Black Butte porter. I went to the Deschutes website and found the ingredients, just not the amounts of the ingredients. I thought I would throw this out for you more experienced brewers to critique and see what suggestions you may have.
Here are the ingredients:
7 lbs. Briess light LME
1 lb. Crystal 60
1 lb. Cara-pils
1 lb. Chocolate wheat
1 oz. nugget 60 min. addition
1 oz. cascade 15 min. addition
1 oz. tettnang 15 min. addition
1 pkg. Safale 04 dry yeast
Beersmith gives an estimated OG of 1.056, 32.9 IBU's, and 32.5 SRM for color. Since I have never come up with my own recipe, do the grains sound about right, or do I need to add to amounts or reduce amounts? I know that according to Deschutes, they use 2 row and the above listed grains. I substituted Nugget hops for Galena, as my LHBS did not have Galena.
Any suggestions or does this look like it may turn out pretty close?
Thanks in advance!
