Hey all. Semi new brewer wanting to clone Black Butte porter. I went to the Deschutes website and found the ingredients, just not the amounts of the ingredients. I thought I would throw this out for you more experienced brewers to critique and see what suggestions you may have.

Here are the ingredients:
7 lbs. Briess light LME
1 lb. Crystal 60
1 lb. Cara-pils
1 lb. Chocolate wheat
1 oz. nugget 60 min. addition
1 oz. cascade 15 min. addition
1 oz. tettnang 15 min. addition
1 pkg. Safale 04 dry yeast

Beersmith gives an estimated OG of 1.056, 32.9 IBU's, and 32.5 SRM for color. Since I have never come up with my own recipe, do the grains sound about right, or do I need to add to amounts or reduce amounts? I know that according to Deschutes, they use 2 row and the above listed grains. I substituted Nugget hops for Galena, as my LHBS did not have Galena.

Any suggestions or does this look like it may turn out pretty close?

Thanks in advance!

This recipe comes from the Jamil podcast. They comfirmed it being cloned on the show, and I brewed it once and was very happy with the results.

10.58 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 75.95 %
1.39 lb Wheat Malt, Bel (2.0 SRM) Grain 9.98 %
0.70 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 5.03 %
0.42 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 3.02 %
0.42 lb Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 3.02 %
0.42 lb Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM) Grain 3.02 %
0.60 oz Galena [13.00 %] (90 min) Hops 29.8 IBU
0.25 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (30 min) Hops 3.8 IBU
0.25 oz Tettnang [4.50 %] (5 min) Hops 0.8 IBU
1 Pkgs English Ale (White Labs #WLP002) Yeast-Ale

You can substitute about 6 lbs. of extract for the 2-row. I hope this helps.
