I think I'm gonna try a small batch, smoking the grains over some pipe tobacco, see what happens. Thus eliminating the nicotine and hopefully retaining some flavor. I'll follow up if anyones interested.......

I dunno, is the toxicity of Nicotine cumulative? Just throwing it out there as I am not sure...

Pipe smoke beer sounds nice. I like the smell of it. Could you smoke some wood chips and then put them in the secondary? Would this give smell as well as taste?

That's not a bad idea. It would take a lot of tobacco to flavor chips or grain though.

i think a rauchbier with some cherry or vanilla flavoring added would be a nice complement to a little pipe smoking. i might try that sometime myself.

What if you made a smoked porter and smoked your own malt but instead of using a particular kind of wood, you used some cheap cigars you have laying around, or pipe tobacco. That would give you a smokey flavor to your beer and possibly some of the pipe tobacco or cigar taste you're looking for.

Moved it to general techniques even though I find this to be uncommon or unique or bad idea.
