My Southpaw Stout. Jet black with tan head. Earthy, chocolate nose. Smooth chocolate coffee taste with a slightly burnt caramel finish. My very first homebrew stout and I am quite pleased.

Tell us more about this beer! It's blueberry picking season and I'd like to find a good beer/home for a few pounds.

This was an extract kit from my LHBS. I cheated and used blueberry extract at bottling. Here's the recipe.
3.3# Wheat LME
3# Extra light DME
1# 2-Row brewers malt
1oz Coriander
1.5 oz. Galena hops
4oz blueberry extract (I used about 3oz)
Wyeast 1010
Add hops at start of 60min boil.
Add coriander at 10min left
Add blueberry extract at bottling
Early bottles were very heavy on the coriander. But that has since mellowed out. Cheers

Smoked Porter.

The Weyermann Rauchmalt was 20% of the grainbill, I'd do 40% next time as the smoke is much more subtle than the Alaskan commercial one. A fine porter otherwise.

I agree. That German rauchmalt is def a subtle flavor that needs quite a bit to come through just right. I need to add more to my dark hybrid lager recipe to make it an American rauchbeir. Good smoke flavor, but not overpowering is a hard balancing act.
