While picking up some juice for apfelwein, I noticed these bottles of sparkling cider (for the wife) for $1.50 at Big Lots. after removing the foil, I saw that they take crown caps. I am assuming I could buy a few of these and use them to bottle carb. Is anything wrong with that idea?

looks a lot like the champaign bottles lhbs sell.
Product Listing - Bottles i would hink it should work ok.

i have used bottles like these with great success. i use martinellis sparkling cider bottles which look like the one you pictured above.
Products - Sparkling Cider - S. Martinelli & Company

i use them for highly carbed beer since they can handle the pressure.

I've also used Martinelli's, they bell of my bench capper almost doesn't fit over the wide lip below the cap, but it does enough to get the job done. It's good to know there are others out there, and for a little less money, too.
