10° L. This unique product has a sweet berry-nut flavor. Used at a rate of 4-15% to add a deep golden hue, light caramel flavors, and a creamy, satiny finish.

15% of what?

15% of the grain bill (by weight).

For example 1.5 lbs of this with 8.5 lbs of 2-row for a total of 10 lbs grain.

4 to 15% of your total grain amount. Usually these are adjunct grains for flavor and color. The larger amounts would be base malt grains for more fermentable sugars.

It's pretty common for commercial breweries to express their grainbills via percentage rather than weight of grain. Since recipes are scaleable depending on the size of your batch 10% of Crystal 20l is going to be 10% whether it's 1 pound in a 5 gallon batch containing 10# of grain, or 100 pounds of it in a commercial brewerie's recipe of the same beer with a 1,000 pound grainbill.

4-15% of the grain bill was Caramel 10 malt. Caramel 10 malt is a available at your LHBS and via online homebrew stores.

The clues were 10 L on the first line and the mention of caramel sweetness in the text. The 10 L stands for 10 degrees Lovibond (a unit used to measure color).

So with 6 lbs of golden malt liquid extract being used, steeping about 1 lbs of the grain would be roughly 15% of the total bill, correct?

6# of golden LME is equivalent to 8# 2-row malt at 75% efficiency. I would work from the 8# number since whatever you are cloning is surely an all grain beer.

That being said, 1# sounds good since the text you quoted says 4-15%.

Took me awhile but I broke down what you've said here but I'm not finding where you got the "6#, 8#, and 1#"
