Default Wyeast 1007 german ale "warm" ferm temps

Without doing a ton of research, I did a cream ale with 1007 last night. (under "caramel cream ale?" recipe) Unfortunately being a low tech basement brewer, my temps will be around 72. I didn't realize the 1007 worked better in the 60-65 range. It's bubbling away now so I'm not worried about it not working but what flavor differences will I see? Will it hurt the flavor? Any cheap easy tricks to get a cooler temp?

Wrap a wet towel around the fermenter to whisk the heat away. Your brew will have some fruity esthers but should still be fairly tasty.

i brewed an oktoberfest ale in July using 1007 - we had a hot spell and temps hit low 70s while i was away and couldn't change water bottles

def some fruity esters and off flavors in the finish but they did mellow some after a month

not belgian - really don't have anything to compare it to - certainly didn't ruin the beer

my friends all loved the beer - i could drink it but the esters bugged me knowing that they didn't belong there
