Default extra yeast

If I use double the amount of yeast will that cut down the fermentation time and give me drinkable beer faster? Just a thought...

I don't claim to be an expert but, if you use double packets in a 5 gallon batch. It wont make the beer any faster for drinking but it will start off fermentation sooner.
