Well if you are going to be in Westminster I would highly recommend O'Lordan's Irish Pub. Awesome food and of course beer and some tasty Irish whiskey's. Not to mention the old woodwork. You won't be disappointed. Right in town on RT27s

Or take rt27 south maybe 15 miles or so to Mt Airy and hit the Mt Airy Inn. Awesome food again and 12 taps that change all the time with a bottle beer list of nothing but craft brews. Then hop on I70 back to Baltimore.

Both places are kid friendly.

+1 The mt airy inn, while not really a "bar" per se, has nothing but craft brews, good ones. and the food is pretty good, the all day breakfast is awesome. recommend the french toast anytime of day, you won't be disappointed.

Also check out The Wharf Rat, which also serves Oliver's.

I live right in Westminster. I frequent Appalachian Brewing Company in Gettysburg a lot. Never been disappointed by their beers. Everything is made up in Harrisburg and brought down to this brew pub. 6-7 regulars on tap plus 4-5 seasonals as well. It's kid friendly and they make their own sodas as well. Only 20 min away. http://www.abcbrew.com/gettysburg/index.htm

And DuClaw as well. DuClaw has a sampler of 11 beers, several different styles including hefe's, stouts, red ales, IPAs, and Belgians. Most of their beers are heavy hitters though. Their Serum XX IPA is awesome.

Lots of great places around here..
