Default serving temps

ive noticed that alot of belgians are supposed to be served at around 55f.

does this serving temp apply only to certain belgian styles, or is this a serving recommendation that applies to high gravity beers?

Ratebeer.com has a list of styles and serving temps. If my phone had copy/paste id share it.

Blehhh, I'm drinking an Allagash tripel that I've been sipping on for too long now. IMO Belgian beers taste bad at that temp. But also, I don't like any beer to be close to 55. 40 is perfect for everything, I think.
