Ok soon I plan to brew a wheat beer that is hoped with arg cascade and maybe some lemon zest (not sure about that yet). But I don't know if the banana and clove flavor the hefeweizin yeast has would be good with the lemon grass flavor of the hops or should I you an american ale yeast like california ale that has a cleaner taste so the hops comes through better.

I like wheat beers, but not hefeweisens, so this is an easy question for me. I use WLP028 (Edinburgh) for wheat beers with good results. I've also used Safale's US-05.

If you ferment with hefe yeast at lower temps it is not going to give off big banana flavors. This might be the way to go.

try WLP320 American Hefeweizen Ale Yeast. less Phenolics and Esters.

I would go with the top 2. American Hefe fermented on the lower end.

+1 for the WLP320. It is an excellent choice. I have a batch fermenting with it right now. I made a 1L starter and within 12 hours I had the most violent fermentation I have ever had
