Default Corn sugar in barleywine

I'm working on a barleywine/pale ale that I'll be brewing in April.
What percent of sugar is acceptable for an English barleywine?
According to my calculations, due to equipment restrictions, 12% of my grain bill would be sugar in order to get the gravities I was hoping for.

Not a big fan of adding sugar. This may be a dumb questiion, but why not add lme or dme?

I am brewing a modified clone of Dominion Millenium sunday. the recipe calls for .7 lb of corn sugar, the other grains total about 16 lb for a 5 gal batch.

I have lots of corn sugar on hand. Sugar is acceptable for the style, I just don't know how much

I use 10% in my bw (it helps quite a bit).
