9 lbs LME minus 20% water = 7.2 lbs DME
9 lbs DME = 9 lbs DME

so wouldn't 9 lbs LME be less than 9 lbs DME?

could someone please clear this up?

what you really mean to ask is "does 9lbs of DME contain more actual malt that 9lbs of LME?" The answer is YES.

DME does not have added water weight. 1lb of DME contains more of the stuff you are after than 1lb of LME.

Mabye uyor ritgh, but I believe the equivalents of 9lbs of DME are 11.25 lbs LME and 15 lbs grain.

(I had a dyslexic friend who walked in to a bra! )
