Simple recipe, I brewed this using the BIAB method over Christmas and it turned out great. It was a huge hit at my LHBS during an all grain class the other day. I ended up sparging with 1.5 gallons of 170F water, which meant my total boil volume was about 9 gallons.

Hops

2 oz Apollo @ 60min
2 oz Bravo @ 60min

1 oz Apollo @ 15min

Single infusion at 152F for 60min
Mash out at 170F for 15min

Great recipe. Do you have something similarly simple for a first time all grain brewer in the lighter colored India pale ale category? Thanks!

I would just replace the Chocolate Malt with Crystal 40L or around that and it should make a great Imperial IPA.

I brewed this a while back, and it was a great beer. I think it could benefit from a bit of caramel malts or something. Also, I might call this a hoppy porter instead of a black IPA. It has lots of roasty flavor, and the hop bitterness compliments it well.

Thanks again!
