Any chance one of you no-chill bastids would do a no-chill Sanke ferment under pressure??? Please???? LOL. I am seriously debating doing my house ale with no-chill. I'm even thinking up a way to pitch my yeast to a sealed up Sanke. Cornies have to be pressurized to seat the seal, but Sankes only get tighter with a vacuum.
My next brew day is going to be no-sparge, no-chill, ferment under pressure in a corny keg.
I'm trying to get my equipment list and time to brew down to the bare minimum.
Probably going to brew Friday or over the weekend sometime.
First brew in a long time, so we'll see how it goes
I plan on posting a picture and info heavy thread once the beer is all the way done to being served.
So, here's the plan. I added an extra lb of two row to take care of the efficiency loss due to not sparging. Mash for an hour, drain into kettle. Boil like normal, maybe slide my hop additions back 10-15 minutes, whirlpool with a spoon, wait for some to settle, drain into a corny. i forgot a stainless steel mesh, so my dip tube may clog, but oh well. Make a real wort starter with what's left over, let the wort cool overnight. I have a little sanitary air filter that I've hooked up to the gas in line. Alternatively, a quick disconnect plus some tube with a star san soaked paper towel would also work. Pour starter into second keg, counter-pressure fill onto the starter (still debating on how much splashing I am going to do to aerate). Add in some Fermcap-S, hook up the spunding setup and start pressure fermenting. Ferment it all out, cold crash for a week or two, put dry hopping hops into another keg, CO2 purge and rack on top of them.
No wort chiller, not extra time sparging, no carboys, I just need mash tun + boil kettle+ kegs + some misc small tubing and equipment.
Edit: I have a refractometer on the way, and am thinking about holding the brew day up until I get that, but I'm itching to brew so I might just do it.
