I kinda have to agree with that. My late-hopped beers start getting worse the second they leave the fermenter it seems

just got my 3rd place ribbon in the mail for my Imperial IPA in the west region. feeling stoked since this is my first comp. i pretty much learned everything about brewing from this forum. thanks to yooper and everyone that participated to make this happen. hopefully next year it goes down again, doubt it though after reading all the comments in the threads. still looking forward to getting my scoresheets to see how i can improve this hop bomb....

All of us have opinions of our beers much like parents have for their kids. Sometimes I can't believe what is said on the score sheets about MY AMAZING BEER. If one say something and the other two don't agree... I can blow it off. But when two or three judges all say the same thing is wrong... I gotta suck it up and believe them.

Our children are generally no uglier than their parents.

If you are in CO and joining a club that has several comps that must be close to Denver, right? Why not see if they want you to steward at the NHC first round judged at Breckenridge Friday and Saturday? I'll be there.
I work Saturday, Sunday, Monday and every other Friday. I'm a shift worker (12 hours), so it kind of ruins my plans to ever really get involved in weekend homebrew events. I also am in the reserves, which cuts into my free time even more, and I'm finishing up my masters degree. I am going to try to be involved, but it will for sure be a juggle. And I am in Falcon, CO...its under my name...right outside of Colorado Springs.

So, who's children is it that you have?
And why did you pick ugly ones?

Congrats, but how'd you get a BOS when the BOS round isn't until 4/9?

I think it was from the WEST mini-BOS.....but IDK much!
Maybe there will be a listing of the actual category scores w/entry numbers and we'll know exactly what's going on. And honestly I could've missed that post as this thread grows 5-7 pages a day!
