Got a turkey fryer kit with a thin cheap aluminum pot. This forum said I should oxidize so I put it in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes. Well actually I started reading forum posts and forgot about it for at least 30 minutes, it still looks the same.

Try boiling 6 or 7 gallons of water in it - that will give you what you need.

I think boiling it is the best way to do it. It could also help you judge how long the "wait to boil" time will be when using the new kettle.

I boiled in my aluminum pots and it seems to have worked. I don't know how long you really NEED to, but I did it for an hour to be on the safer side

Then consider yourself done and brew. The more you use the pot, the more it will oxidise.
