Hey guys and gals,

For the first time ever, today I had a stuck lauter (sparge went decently). After attempting to thin out the mash with a little extra water, I proceeded to dump the contents of my mash tun into the kettle, scooped up what was stuck under the false bottom, and then dumped everything back into the mash tun.

While I transferred the mash as gently as I could, it was difficult to keep from splashing, etc. Using your best guesses, is it possible that I introduced enough oxygen into the mash to cause problems down the road in the form of hot side aeration? Has anyone heard of this happening during the mash, as opposed to splashing around the hot wort?

Thanks for any help!

Best,
John

HSA causing problems has pretty much been debunked - at least on the homebrew scale...

You'll be fine.
