I am thinking of making a barley wine. Is it a good idead to age in an oak barrel? Also, where can you find an oak barrel for a 5 gallon batch? And how do you prepare an oak barrel for aging a barleywine?
I would also be interested in oak barrels, but for 10 gallon batches. I have heard it is best to get used barrels from either a winery or a bourbon/ whiskey maker. What I don't know is whether the sizes would be usable.
